“This life is what you make it. No matter what, you are going to mess it up sometimes, it’s a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you’re going to mess it up… So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life’s a beautiful thing and there’s so much to smile about.” – Marilyn Monroe

Ladylike Jackets

On the same day that I came across the Chanel spring 2011 campaign, I got an email from Who What Wear about ladylike jackets.  According to WWW, this wardrobe essential “has been a favorite of ladies-who-lunch since Mme. Chanel designed her first signature cardigan jacket in the 1920s,” and since then, “the typically tweed topper has been reinvented by countless fashion houses—just about every brand has created a version—demonstrating its truly timeless appeal.”  I loved this roundup of cropped tweed jackets back in August, and it’s safe to say they are back on my mind!  For a fresh take on the classic, the editors at WWW recommend following DKNY’s lead and pairing with a blouse and wool pants instead of the usual matching skirt.  Or maybe, just maybe, I could wear wear one with some leather pants (clearly, also on my mind)!
