“This life is what you make it. No matter what, you are going to mess it up sometimes, it’s a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you’re going to mess it up… So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life’s a beautiful thing and there’s so much to smile about.” – Marilyn Monroe

Guest Post: A Lacey Perspective

As co-founders of CapFABB, Lacey and I have become fast friends! Her blog, A Lacey Perspective, is a DC fave! Like me, Lacey works in politics during the day and hits up fashion events in the evenings, so she knows a thing or two about work-event outfits! And she knows I sometimes need to branch out of my love of black, minimalism, and edgy styles. Which is why I enlisted her to help me with a happy hour look for my birthday!

When Liz asked me to create her a birthday happy hour look I thought to myself, “What makes a girl smile on her birthday?” Than instantly I came to the conclusion… sparkles and bubbly, of course!

So I started building the ensemble by finding the perfect, work appropriate sparkle. Why not wear a sequin skirt to the office (as long as, of course, the length is work appropriate)? It’s your birthday and you’ll sparkle if you want to! Add the perfect Equipment top, a cape and the perfect Zara suede booties to give the look a polished, sophisticated fall look. Don’t forget to tuck a fun clutch in your work tote to add to your look for when you are ready to party. Liz will walk into the fabulous happy hour in her honor and all eyes will be on her… as it should be.

I am so lucky to call Liz a fellow blogger and a friend. Happy Birthday, Liz! I know you will have So Much to Smile About.

Happy Birthday, Liz!
