Looking Back

With 2012 just around the corner, I thought I’d take a quick moment to look back on 2011. I have to admit, it was pretty fun to go back through old posts and see what I was up to all year! So without further ado, here’s a quick end-of-year recap…

About this time last year, I was obsessing over navajo prints, floppy hats and wide-leg jeans. But my go-to outfit will always be cropped pants and heels. What can I say? I know what I love! As early as April, I was also loving loafers (and finally bought a pair myself this fall). And in May, I had an amazing time hosting a Banana Republic event with some of my favorite DC bloggers. By summer, I was focused on Coachella style, summertime outfits, and a trip to the Adirondacks. It really was an amazing summer (despite the heat), with great vacations, afternoons spent at the pool, and lots of fun times with friends.

This fall, it was all about capes, and an orange and pink color combo, rainy day wear (Hurricane Irene!), maxi dresses, and leather. In August, I was stuck on rugged, western style – and every song by U.S. Royalty! I was also dancing up a storm to Robyn’s “Call Your Girlfriend,” and dreaming of sequins and leopard pants. And this fall, I celebrated my 26th birthday – I’m still so grateful for all these guest posts!

For traveling, my essential carry-on items haven’t really changed since this April post – except for my most recent trip, when I swapped a tee and flats for a sweater and boots. It’s cold in Wisconsin! But I’ve always maintained that few things are as perfect as a simple tee (still obsess over this look). Well that, and a classic white dress shirt. And for work, I still love this inspiration and these looks from fashion week. Finally, especially now (that it’s colder), this cozy weekend style and these winter coats are still so perfect! Oh, and my color obsession hasn’t changed since September – I’m still craving everything cobalt!

Of course, over the year, there have been lots of style crushes (like above) and friends who’ve had me over to guest post. I can’t tell you how great it’s all been (and how grateful I am for it all). So, what are your favorite trends, moments or memories from 2011? Can you believe that next week it will be 2012?! How time flies when you’re having fun!
