Spring Skincare Must-Haves

With winter (mostly) behind us, it’s a perfect time to reevaluate your skincare regimen and get your skin back in shape for spring. Go through the products you have, throw out those that are expired, and stock up on some new ones! I know I could use a major haul at Sephora – so here are some products I swear by and some I’m dying to try! Some of them you may have seen me talk about before. But that’s just because I really do love them (*caugh* Kate Somerville, Dr. Dennis Gross, *caugh*).

1. Murad clarifying mask / 2. Murad clarifying cleanser / 3. ReVive cleanser
4. Giorgio Armani regenerator / 5. Kate Somerville EradiKate / 6. Clarisonic brush heads
7. Dr. Dennis Gross moisturizer / 8. Laura Mercier lip silk / 9. DermaDoctor KP Duty
10. Dr. Dennis Gross alpha beta glow pads / 11. Kate Somerville true lash

As you may know, my biggest concern is dealing with sensitive yet acne-prone skin. Right now, I wake up in the morning, use a toner to clean my face (I should probably actually wash it, but sometimes don’t have time worry about over washing), a light lotion, and apply makeup (foundation or tinted moisturizer + bronzer + mascara + eyeliner + chapstick as I’m running out the door). At night, I use my Clarisonic to clean my face and Kate Somerville to remove eye makeup, apply my Dr. Dennis Gross moisturizer and the acne spot treatment du jour (need to try EradiKate, but I also love Neutrogena rapid clear spot gel). I maybe put on an eye cream if I remember (I use this Kate Somerville one, but this one is cheaper). But usually I just brush my teeth and drop into bed.

For facewash, I really love this ReVive cleanser – it smells and feels great. But it’s pricey. So I also recommend this Origins foaming face wash (seriously foamy, and minty) or, honestly, I just use a drugstore face wash. I do really want to try the Murad face wash and clarifying mask, after they were recommended by Lara. And I use a Clarisonic, but I have mixed feelings about it. I like it, but I don’t love it (and at one point I swear it made me break out more). After reading this post from Capitol Hill Style, I decided I want to try new brush heads. Maybe that will help.

Lastly, two important products I use as needed: Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta glow pads and DermaDoctor’s KP Duty. The glow pads are an exfoliate, self-tanner and anti-aging product in one. So great. And I’m not sure if anyone else has this, but I have those “chicken-skin” bumps on my arms (aka Keratosis pilaris) and I’ve never found anything that makes them as smooth as the KP Duty body scrub. Seriously. It does wonders.

Anything else I should look into? Is there a skincare product you swear by? Do share!

  • Great post! I have a Clairisonic as well and I’ve been afraid of it causing breakouts – counter-intuitive, right? Thus, I only use it every other night but now I’m definitely going to try the acne brush head. Thanks for pointing me to it!

  • Wow, so thorough, i love it – I’m just not that good at picking stuff like this, and it’s so helpful to have it laid out:) Can’t wait to try a few. xo

  • I can swear by Laura Mercier products — both makeup && skin care line! The body/face polish is INCREDIBLE and great for taking off that layer of dead winter skin!

  • clearly i need a clarisonic!!

  • I swear by the Kate Somerville line, I discovered recently and I am a big fan. It’s a little pricey, but my skin has never felt better.

  • Mario Badescu is pretty much the best thing that has ever happened to me, especially for light chest acne (special lotion o). And I got Tata Harper for a birthday gift, but unfortunately it is out of my price range, even though the hydrating floral spray is heaven on earth.

    Great suggestions!

  • ,,,i love my clarisonic but only use it 3 times a week at the recommendation/suggestion of my dermatologist. why?…because “she” indicated “over-use” can cause broken capillaries. i swear by laura mercier though i use a melange of products, some more affordable than others,,,

Keratosis pilaris influences just about half of all adolescents and around 50 % of all grownups. It truly is an incredibly frequent pores and skin condition. It causes lots of little, tough and red very little bumps all-around hair follicles normally within the higher arms, thighs, back, and face. Additionally, it causes the appearance of irritated red goose bumps. These bumps commonly show up both as skin-colored or red, and are generally most typically located for the arms and legs. Since it is so popular, lots of people are seeking a powerful keratosis pilaris therapy. Keratosis pilaris is often witnessed in patients with other pores and skin conditions like dermatitis or eczema. It are not able to be treated, nevertheless it could possibly turn out to be less obvious with time. It tends to operate within the relatives.
