“This life is what you make it. No matter what, you are going to mess it up sometimes, it’s a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you’re going to mess it up… So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life’s a beautiful thing and there’s so much to smile about.” – Marilyn Monroe

Outfit + Occasion: Spring Wedding

I don’t know about you, but I have two weddings just next month – thankfully, I’m a bridesmaid in both so won’t have to worry about what to wear! But for those of you who do, here’s some helpful ideas for what to wear to a spring wedding.

1. ASOS dress / 2. BaubleBar bangle / 3. J.Crew dress / 4. Michael Kors dress
5. BaubleBar bangles / 6. BaubleBar bangle / 7. ASOS shoes / 8. ALDO shoes
9. ASOS dress / 10. Lauren Merkin clutch / image 1, 2

For a semiformal wedding (early evening), your best bet is to wear a cocktail dress in a print or saturated color – try a jewel-tone cocktail dress + nude patent pumps + a fun clutch. But remember not to wear white and avoid red to be safe (when I posted about a winter wedding, there was some debate over wearing black – I still say, especially if the wedding is in the evening, if you pick the right fabric and and add color in the accessories, black is totally ok, but avoid to be safe). Add your favorite lipstick and accessories, like an armful of gold bangles, and you’ll be good to go.

For a daytime wedding that is more casual, “reach for lightweight dressy fabrics like chiffon or silk,” suggest Kerr and Power. I love the idea of a light, printed maxi dress with dressy accessories, but casual cocktail or vintage dresses would be lovely too.

Finally, if you are in need of a dress but aren’t sure you want to buy a new one, there’s always the option to rent, from Rent-the-Runway or New for the Night, a recently launched site out of Houston – they have a really great selection!
