on April 25th, 2012Looking for the perfect occasion to wear your best festival outfit? If you’re in the DC area, you’ve probably heard of the Sweetlife Festival, the outdoor food and music festival taking place this Saturday, April 28th. Avicii, Kid Cudi, The Shins, Zola Jesus, Explosions in the Sky, Fitz and the Tantrums, Fun, U.S. Royalty (my local fave) and more are all playing this year! Sadly, I am not in town to go (I’ll be at a wedding in Wisconsin), BUT, I have two VIP tickets to give away to one of YOU courtesy of Honest Tea! See below for how to enter!
At Sweetlife this year, Honest Tea is teaming up with Global Inheritance, a non-profit charity whose focus on a zero-carbon footprint is helping create a “jungle gym of power” at the festival. There will be see-saws and bikes to generate a cell phone powering station (among other things), a Recycle Store where you can get cool stuff for generating power/bringing bottles, as well as an eco-chill zone. Amazing, right? Plus, Honest Tea is launching a national recycling initiative later this month called The Great Recycle. On April 30, they will be erecting a 30-foot recycling bin in Times Square and attempting to recycle as many beverage containers as possible. The containers collected will be donated to GrowNYC and recycled into gardening materials that will benefit select NYC public schools. Plus, the bottles will act like currency redeemable for cool stuff in their onsite TRASHed Recycling store. Click here for more info.
For those fans not going to Sweetlife or in NYC for The Great Recycle, they are encouraging people to participate by recycling an old Facebook post at www.TheGreatRecycle.com and making a weekly recycling pledge.

To live more green, I plan to get my friends to recycle. Most of them don’t, but I can show them how easy it is to separate different bins. It’s so simple, yet makes such a huge impact.
It took a lot of convincing, but if I win, my dad will let me take his Prius to Sweetlife instead of our decades old VAN. 1 gal vs 4 gals. #WINNING
