I missed getting this up on Friday because I was fighting a bad cold all week, but it’s really amazing what a good night’s sleep can do! I feel SO much better today. I still had a nice weekend – especially with breakfast at Neiman Marcus yesterday (see some instagram photos here, post coming this week), grabbing a quick drink/bit with Meg, and spending time with my roomies. Keep reading for more upates and fave links from last week!

*Side note: I put together these tips on starting your own fashion blog, and have emailed people with advice before as well. Lately I’ve been thinking about the enormous amount of “build a better blog” and blog/business advice posts that are out there, and strategy pointers on everything from pinterest to instagram, and I just want to point you to this amazing post from Sarah and echo her sentiments. I go back and forth between being all about the blogging business and just wanting to do what I do, and even though the added bonus of being able to work with brands I support and send you to shop pieces I love (and I really do love sharing what I’m loving) is amazing (and it is), I still have a full time job and non-blogging friends and family that deserve my attention and it’s been a bit of a struggle lately to balance it all, especially with all this strategy talk that leaves me feeling like I’m falling short! And I just wanted to thank you all for supporting this blog for what it is. I will have some exciting announcements in the coming weeks (including a very special post this week), and then next month I’m headed to Lucky FABB and New York Fashion Week, and I’m SO looking forward to sharing all of that with you! It’s going to be a great next few months and I’m just so glad you are here for it all!

This is great! I really appreciate you pointing out Sarah’s post and her thoughts. I actually decided to take a little “creative vacay” from my blog about a week ago, to just step back and reflect on where it was going, where I want it to go, and how I can integrate it more seemingly into all the happenings of my life, instead of feeling like it was something completely separate. It was starting to feel like a burden more than the creative outlet it once used to be. I do agree with Sarah that that the blogs I absolutely love are the ones that you can tell are most genuine, and this is something that they do in between all the other wonderful and amazing happenings outside of the blog and in the real world.
Loved this post, Liz! (And thank you for the shout-out!) xx
Thanks for sharing Sarah’s link. Its nice knowing that other bloggers who are bigger than I am have the same struggles in terms of balancing life & the blog! It can be very overwhelming at times.
[...] Earlier this week, I posted about how it’s been a bit of a struggle lately to balance everything (work, blog, non-blogging life) – but I just want to stress how much I love this blogging thing (I really, really love it). I also wanted to take this opportunity to remind you how important it is to me that I believe in the brands I work with and that I’m honest and open with you throughout everything (read my full disclosure here). And no matter who I work with or what new things I am doing, I’m still the same girl, still learning, still just sharing the things that are making me smile. [...]
Hi Liz! I’m totally with you on the balance thing. I’ve been feeling cuckoo lately (work, blog, see friends, blog, shop, blog, work out, repeat). It can be crazy sometimes! It’s nice to know I’m not the only one out there feeling this way, so thanks for sharing your thoughts with us.
BTW, I’ll be at LuckyFABB, too!
