Christian Siriano was my last runway show of fashion week, and by this time, my phone had died along with my camera (you’d think I’d be better prepared by now… nope). But even though I couldn’t snap any photos, I was in a unique position to just take in the show and enjoy my final spring runway experience – something I recommend show-goers try sometime. As he is a former DC area guy (and was one of my fave shows from last season), I was definitely excited to see what Christian would show for spring.
Christian Siriano’s spring collection was clearly inspired by the ballet, which was evident in everything from the ballerina buns to the shoe silhouettes (and of course, every item of clothing in between). Specifically, he referenced the Dream Ballet (as performed by the American Ballet Theatre) as well as the Degas painting, Three Ballet Dancers, as sources of inspiration. And for any former ballerina or current day girly girl, the collection is a dream.

I thought the pink polka dot cropped pants, peplums and party dresses were especially fun – though my favorite piece was a simple ivory dolman sleeve maxi gown. And there were lots of pretty pastels (especially pinks and blues) with a few “ballet prints” as well. Plus, the shoes were amazing – and will inspire the Spring ’13 Christian Siriano for Payless Gold collection, due in Payless stores and Payless.com in February! Surely it will be a romantic spring if Siriano has anything to say about it!
