If you follow me on instagram, you may already know that I was in NYC last week for a very quick trip to talk about some serious women’s issues with an amazing group of bloggers. It was so much fun to spend time with DC loves Natalie and Vyque, and of course, to meet so many incredible new people.

The purpose of the trip was to start a discussion on how we can better educate and empower the next generation of girls to know more about their health/bodies and not rely on unfortunate myths and misinformation. As someone who is dealing with her own health issues (you can read my story here), I felt like it was a discussion I could contribute to, and I was excited to be a part of the movement. It’s always inspiring to get with a great group of women to talk about issues we face daily, like pressure to look a certain way or have a pretty looking life. Sometimes (and I think especially as a blogger?) it can be hard to keep up. If you missed it before, you can read my post about the “Things I’m Afraid To Tell You,” which touches on some of the things you might not see regularly – it’s not all smiles all the time.

Specifically, U by Kotex partnered with Girls for a Change to start a program called Generation Know, which hopes to empower girls to create social change in their communities and “transform the world.” Along with the other bloggers, I participated in round table discussions and smaller interviews to touch on some of the issues and myths that exist. I had no idea about some of the misinformation that is out there (pineapple juice as birth control?) and I’m looking forward to learning more and sharing with the ladies in my life. Hopefully through all of this, more girls will know they have women and resources they can turn to for answers and support regardless of their situation. Stay tuned for more!

Liz,
This is amazing! I can’t wait to read more about all the hard work you are putting into this project! Good Luck!
What a great job, I hope you can keep up the good work.
You are doing a great job hope you can keep doing it!
[...] As you may remember, earlier this year I took a quick trip to NYC to talk about women’s issues with an amazing group of fashion, lifestyle and health/fitness bloggers. While not strictly fashion related, there are a number of women’s/health issues I feel strongly about and I was happy to contribute to the important discussion (if you haven’t yet, you can read more about my health story here).
