A couple weeks ago when I was talking about what made my style unique, I mentioned my love of minimalism and black and neutrals. Well right on time, Net-A-Porter’s latest e-magazine issue has a story about the signature look of French women, and I realized – that might be an easier way to sum up my ideal style/inspiration. Specifically, the look of Emmanuelle Alt.

I adore everything about Alt’s style (and I’m not the only one… check out Garance Dore’s post about “The Altfit” – get it?!) from the cropped skinny jeans/pants, simple tees, oversized shirts to the blazers and pointed-toe heels. It might not seem like anything too crazy or unique, but given the super out-there styles that are so often photographed, Alt’s uniform is distinct. I love the author’s advice in the Edit article and think it fits perfectly with Diet Dr Pepper’s celebration of discovering your unique and distinctive style: “Rule number one: Nail a distinctive style and have the confidence to stick to it. Rule number two: Don’t get too, er… experimental, which can be tricky for the trend-led amongst us. Rule number three: Look sexy. I hope that’s OK to say. But that’s the point, as I’m sure most French women would agree.”
Of course, I do like to try new things (and need to or you’d all get bored, right?) but when you know what works for you, it’s nice to know you can just stick with that!

I loved The Edit’s take on the Parisian woman, Miss Alt in particular. Her style is so simple, but defined, which allows her to repeat a similar style so often while still having each look appear different. Great post!
Love her style, and she makes it look so effortless.
I love Emmanuelle Alt and pretty much anything/everything when it comes to French style. Il est tout aussi tres chic!
