“This life is what you make it. No matter what, you are going to mess it up sometimes, it’s a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you’re going to mess it up… So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life’s a beautiful thing and there’s so much to smile about.” – Marilyn Monroe

By Liz on June 7th, 2013 If you live in DC, hopefully you’ve already heard of Hugh & Crye. But honestly, you need to know this company no matter where you are! An online retailer of menswear, Hugh & Crye is based in Washington, DC and offers personalized sizing using the height of your torso (short, average, tall) and your overall build (skinny, slim, athletic, broad) so you get an amazingly well-fitted shirt. To check out some of their latest styles, I took my work husband Stephen to their office and showroom.

By Liz on June 6th, 2013 This latest lookbook from Lo & Sons has me itching to pack a bag (specifically, The Catalina) and head out for a vacation in the sun. If you’re not familiar, Lo & Sons is an awesome company that makes bags “designed to help you travel light and look smart.” Their O.G./O.M.G. bags are really popular, and while I don’t have one yet, I’m thinking that needs to change before I start law school. But first, vacation…

By Liz on June 5th, 2013 My affinity for BaubleBar has been well documented, but between the “guest bartenders” and the new sale section, BaubleBar has been killing it lately. I’m especially obsessed with bright statement necklaces for summer, which are perfect for adding a bit of edge to a neutral work outfit (my new go-to) or dressing up a tee on the weekends. Plus, they look amazing layered (my current inspiration). And the best part about the necklaces below? They are all under $50. Seriously.

By Liz on May 31st, 2013 Ok, I have to admit, there is just one thing below that is not under $50 – but it’s so close and so fantastic, I had to throw it in there. Any guess? It’s the Bloch flats (these are great too)… I just love them, and Net-A-Porter is having a major sale right now (seriously amazing stuff) so these are a great price! And while Net-A-Porter’s sale items aren’t really under $50, the rest of the items below are!

Madewell Bikini / Madewell Top / Danielle Nicole Bag / J.Crew Shorts / Madewell Skirt
BaubleBar Necklace / Gap Bag / Cheap Monday Sunglasses / Gap Shirt /
Bloch Flats / Dorothy Perkins Dress / Gap Sandals
By Liz on May 29th, 2013 Rachel Roy recently collaborated with FEEDProjects, the nonprofit company started by Lauren Bush Lauren that feeds children around the world, to produce a limited-edition tote bag. Created with local artisans after Rachel traveled to India, each FEED 100 India bag sold provides 100 school meals to hungry children in India. If the mission/charity behind the bag wasn’t enough, I was also so impressed with the high quality and the fun print and tassels – it was the perfect bag for my Memorial Day trip to the beach! I imagine I’ll be carrying it all summer long, and feeling pretty great about that. Win-win, right?
