Pink Rocks The Runway! Part 2

You’ll never believe it, but Christian Siriano just announced one lucky Pink Rocks the Runway ticket holder will get to go to his February 2012 New York Fashion Week show including VIP seating, backstage access, and a custom dress from his collection! If that doesn’t convince you to buy your ticket ASAP, I don’t know what will! But as you know, Christian isn’t the only designer showing at Friday’s event – here are a couple more looks at designers who will be featured on the runway!

Punk Rock Bride

Just back from New York for bridal fashion week, designer Stephanie Ward founded Punk Rock Bride in 2006 for the bride who is looking for a “less traditional, more fashion-forward wedding dress.” Inspired by fabrics and details or something as “simple as a geometric pattern,” Stephanie explained to me that she always had a creative drive, pursuing fashion design at school because she “was drawn to the fact that it was not only aesthetically appealing, but also functional.” Regarding her journey, Stephanie commented, “I started out sewing alterations out of my apartment in DC, to having my own company and studio here. It’s been very challenging, but also very rewarding.” On Friday, Stephanie says you can expect to see something tying together “the drama of bridal wear with a bold splash of color,” despite the fact that “working with color is very out of my element, since bridal is almost all white or off-white.”

Natalia Sanz

As a child, Designer Natalia Sanz used to stay up late watching fashion shows on the Style channel, and it has been her passion ever since. “I started my portfolio in high school art class,” she told me, “and then went to Miami International University of Art and Design where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design.” Since returning to DC, she started her collection by designing a few pieces for boutiques, custom-fitting clients and debuting her collection at DC Fashion Week. Now, Natalia has designed four collections and started a jewelry line. “I strive to take my collection to the next level and hopefully show at New York Fashion Week,” she said. In the meantime, Natalia, who looks to origami, architecture, sculptures and textures for inspiration, will show one of a kind pieces that are dear to her heart on the runway on Friday. “Getting to work using my skills and talents one-on-one with a survivor model was an amazing opportunity [and it] pushed me to create a garment I truly love and allowed me to use that to spread awareness about breast cancer.”
