Gioielli By Nikki Baker At Hu’s

Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of meeting jewelry designer Nikki Baker at Hu’s Wear in Georgetown. A complete sweetheart, Nikki is a LA native who now calls New York “home,” though she splits her time between NYC and London (where she had just come from). While looking over all the pretty pieces on display at Hu’s, we chatted about her inspiration, favorite items, and what’s new for Gioielli!

Gioielli was launched in 2009 after Nikki decided to make her part-time passion a full-time business. Nikki is largely self-taught in jewelry design, getting most of her inspiration from her background studying Greek architecture and sculpture (she has a degree in classics from Stanford and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology – talk about impressive). Each piece is made by hand in the US, with gems from all over the world.

My favorite piece was the stunning Single Stone earrings in blue topaz – which is also one of her most popular items! Other popular pieces are the stackable rings (LOVE how three of these look together) and bean necklaces (which you can also layer). The Denim & Diamonds earrings below were even on Gossip Girl, worn by Elizabeth Hurley!

And amazingly, the jewelry is really reasonably priced. Because Nikki hopes to “delight people,” she told me it is important for her pieces to be accessible. Much of her collection is under $200, including my favorite pair of topaz earrings (also love this gold geranium leaf necklace for $95). But of course, there are special splurge pieces too!

If you’re in DC, be sure to stop by Hu’s Wear to check out Gioielli by Nikki Baker, and no matter where you are, you can purchase pieces online and like her on facebook for the latest updates. You’ll want to keep tabs on this one!
