Outfit + Occasion: New Job
A new job is the perfect occasion to go through your work wardrobe and step it up a bit, don’t you think? I know after three years at the same job, I’ve gotten pretty comfortable with my attire and it may be time to reevaluate! First place to start, tear apart my closet. Second? Reread this post (I kind of love it, if I may say so myself) and this one from Wardrobe Oxygen (love all Allie’s tips). Third? Shop for pieces I’m missing.

Staples include a great pencil skirt (J.Crew or Ann Taylor), perfect skinny slacks (Theory – my fave, Banana Republic or J.Crew), classic nude and black pumps, dress shirts, solid sheath dress, colorful belts, summer scarves, fun jewelry, plus nice tees and cardigans (Old Navy, J.Crew, Ann Taylor). Yes, I occasionally wear a suit, but more often, I wear a sheath dress + blazer, or skirt + tee + cardigan (like this) + belt. And most often, I wear skinny slacks, high heels, and a sweater or blouse. Click here for more ideas!

Me: “I’m wearing a pencil skirt.”
