Neiman Marcus Fall Trends
Last week I was invited to a breakfast and fall trend overview at Neiman Marcus – I can’t think of a better way to spend my Saturday morning! I love hearing what Ken Downing has on his radar and see what is new in the stores. Keep reading for all the intel!
Mixed Greens: Think all shades of green, from emerald (my fave) to forest, and wearing them solo or in combination.
The Jacket: A great jacket can really pull an outfit together. Put one on over everything. Extra points for a menswear inspired topper (I love this See by Chloe jacket).
The Smoking Slipper: Loafers were big last fall, and they’re not going anywhere this year, thankfully (I’ve loved them for forever, it seems)! Not quite sold? Try penny loafers or oxfords for lux-looking flats you can wear anywhere.
The Leather Leg: I love leather pants. And everything leather, really (evidence here). This fall, tight leather pants are back, but so too are wider, trouser-like leather pants (like these).
Navy, the New Neutral: Navy with black is a fave combo of mine, and if you’ve been nervous about the pair, now is the perfect time to try it (here’s an easy way)! Also, grab navy handbags and shoes, and look for navy in military influenced pieces and colorblocking, which will carry over from last season.
The Statement Handbag: Like a great jacket, the statement handbag can truely pull a look together. Pay attention to size, shape, and details for a high-impact bag.
Borrowed From the Boys: One of my favorite reoccuring trends, menswear inspired pieces are back in a big way. Grab that menswear inspired topper I was talking about, oxfords, or an oversized top.
Digital Prints: These fun patterns can be found on everything from tops, dresses, and even fur. Shop lots of options here.
Brooches: I love this idea – “One adds newness, a cluster adds drama!” I mean, how amazing does this look? You could even try wearing them on your jeans, like this! Or in your hair!

I can’t wait for all the shades of green we’ll be seeing this fall! And I’m always down for Navy colorblocking. I have never thought too much about brooches, but my mother has an amazing collection. Maybe I’ll be doing some borrowing!
