Red Carpet Style – Golden Globes

I’m not sure how impressed I was with the Golden Globes overall (and I haven’t seen any of these movies yet – must get caught up before the Oscars!), but there were some great dresses, funny moments, and lots of fun twitter conversations! Dress-wise, I think my favorite looks were Lupita Nyong’o in Ralph LaurenMichelle Dockery in Oscar de la RentaGreta Gerwig in Donna Karan Atelier, and Cate Blanchett in Armani Prive. There were some pretty clear trends on the red carpet, too… and this awards season, I’ve partnered with Diet Dr Pepper to share my favorite trends and #oneofakindstyle (in addition to the Golden Globes, I’ll also be covering the Grammys and the Oscars)! But for now, here are my picks from last night’s red carpet! Blushy neutrals, black and white, colorblocking, and lots of sequins (duh!).

The light, blushy/nude neutrals are almost always my favorites from the red carpet, and this was no exception. I was pretty obsessed with Michelle Dockerty (center), Kate Mara in J Mendel (center right), and Margot Robbie in Gucci (far right). Gorgeous, right?

I adore black and white looks. Not very many people loved Julia Roberts’ shirt and dress combo, but I thought all the above looks were pretty chic. Love Emilia Clarke in Proenza Schouler (center).

I was never a huge fan of the colorblocked trend, but it definitely seems to be making a comeback – at least on the red carpet! I do love Aubrey Plaza ‘s shades of purple and the black and pink on Taylor Swift. Julie Bowen looks great too. Not so much for Sandra Bullock in that dress.

You’ll always find some sequins on the red carpet, right? I especially loved Olivia Wilde – the emerald color and baby bump are just too perfect! Talk about #oneofakindstyle.

If you are loving any of these trends, below are some ideas for how you could translate them into your everyday style – it’s not as hard as you might think! Personally, I’ll be wearing more winter whites and neutrals this year, and maybe even branching out with some colorblocking! Is there one trend you might try this year? Or a favorite Golden Globe moment? Recommendation for what movies I should start with?!

Thanks for posting this recap! I missed the Golden Globes. There were so many lovely dresses, but Lupita Nyong’o’s dress was my fav.

Love how you broke it down by color. You can really follow the trends that way!
