Inaugural Style

If you follow me on twitter or instagram, you may have noticed that I was on television last week modeling inaugural style for Fox 5 DC and Rent the Runway. Rent the Runway was in town for the weekend giving DC ladies the chance to try on dresses before placing their order to rent, and it was so much fun trying on the different options! It’s definitely gala season and (especially for DC – inauguration!) the perfect time to find an occasion to get dressed up.

INTERMIX is a favorite store of mine, so on Tuesday night, I stopped by to celebrate the relocation of the Georgetown INTERMIX store to Cady’s Alley. The new store looked great, the clothes were fantastic, the cocktails delicious, and the music was amazing – it’s not every day you get to shop while Passion Pit DJs a set of their music! Yes, PASSION PIT! And I took tons of photos!

Bishop Boutique Anniversary Party

Last night, I had the great honor of hosting Bishop Boutique’s one year anniversary party! If you are in the DC/VA area and haven’t visited this boutique in Old Town Alexandria yet, find an excuse to get there ASAP. They have an incredible and unique selection of shoes, handbags, accessories and more. Plus, the boutique owner, Kelly, is such a sweetheart (with a great eye for picking out products)! Thanks to everyone who made it! We had a blast celebrating with friends, champagne, cakepops and more!

For my DC area readers – I hope you already have the ALL ACCESS: Fashion events on your calendars (more info here)! Because I have another amazing event for you! I’m absolutely honored to be working with Becky’s Fund, a DC-based nonprofit committed to the prevention of domestic and dating violence, and their annual Walk This Way fashion event. It’s such an important cause – and a wonderful evening.

On October 4, 2012, DC sports stars (like Washington Capitals John Carlson, Karl Alzner, and Mathieu Perreault and Redskins DeAngelo Hall, Ryan Kerrigan, Lorenzo Alexander) will don Eric Finn Custom Clothier suits on the catwalk to support Becky’s Fund and their work to end and prevent domestic abuse. The athletes will be joined by female models rocking styles from local brands such as Marti Company, Anchyi Wei concept accessories, Bishme Cromartie and Charm Georgetown.

Kiehl’s LifeRide For amfAR!

Last night I stopped by the Kiehl’s store in Georgetown for the official culmination of the third annual Kiehl’s LifeRide for amfAR, a ten-day motorcycle ride to raise awareness for HIV/AIDS research and resources and celebrating the International AIDS Conference staging in the US for the first time in 22 years. Guests included Kiehl’s President Chris Salgardo, amfAR CEO Kevin Robert Frost, and actors Sharon Stone, Josh Corbett, Tyson Beckford, Gilles Marini and more. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more gorgeous group of motorcyclists! That, plus such an important cause, made for a pretty perfect evening.

The Styleliner In DC

The Styleliner, a twenty-foot potato chip truck turned “boutique on wheels,” has arrived in DC! Packed with carefully curated merchandise from around the world, the Styleliner is a “unique mobile shopping experience” you won’t want to miss - and I got a sneak peak!

Starting today (and continuing every Thursday – Sunday until June 17), the truck will be parked in the PNC Bank lot at M Street and Wisconsin Avenue in Georgetown and will be open for shopping from 11am to 7pm. On Wednesdays the truck will be parked in Dupont Circle with 10% of sales benefitting Women Thrive International. Plus, the W Washington D.C. will also host the Styleliner - get more info here!

Charity In Chocolate Fashion Show

Last week I was able to attend the Heart of America’s Charity in Chocolate event, where more than 50 top local chefs/restaurants showcased desserts and small plates for tasting (so many amazing creations!), followed by a fashion show where models walked the runway in dresses and accessories made from chocolate and sugar. It was a fun (and delicious - hello sugar coma!) event that helped provide books to children in the DC metropolitan area. Check out a few of my photos below!

A T.J.Maxx Moment

Yesterday, T.J.Maxx opened it’s 1,000 store right here in DC. One day earlier, I had a chance to preview the store and I was so excited about their selection I braved the crowds and went back yesterday to shop! I was especially impressed with their “Runway” section – Prada, Fendi, Miu Miu, Theory, Vince, Elizabeth and James, Kate Spade and more (plus new items added daily)! I walked away with a gorgeous navy and pink Ali Ro dress, a floral Leifsdottier dress and a pair of Latitude Femme shoes I’m OBSESSED with. Rent The Runway Recap

Last week I had the opportunity to lunch, and later sip champagne, with the CEO and co-founder of Rent the Runway, Jenn Hyman. While attending Harvard Business School, Jenn and her co-founder Jenny Fleiss came up with the idea to start a site that allowed women to rent dresses at a fraction of the price it would cost to own them. Just a few years later, Rent the Runway has around 2.5 million subscribers who have access to designer dresses they can rent for any occasion! It was so inspiring to talk with Jenn and her team and brainstorm new ways to bring Rent the Runway to the “go getter girl” in DC!

ReadySetDC’s Fashion District

I’ve shared ReadySetDC’s Fashion District event on here several times before, but this time around, I couldn’t be more excited because it’s new and improved! In case you’re not familiar, Fashion District is a celebration of style, design and entrepreneurship that aims to put a spotlight on influential and innovative designers and local businesses in DC. This season’s event is on Thursday, April 12th, from 7:30 to 11pm, and trades in the runway for a showroom experience that allows attendees to watch, touch and feel, talk with the designers themselves and purchase the amazing garments and accessories on display. This year’s designers include Hugh & Crye, Kelly Tang, Artaya, Ginger Root Design, Aliceanna and Accoutre, among others. Gift Guide For The DC Dweller

I’m not sure there’s a girl out there who hasn’t dreamed of getting that iconic blue box to open at some point or another – so what better time than the holidays to check out the latest that Tiffany’s has to offer! The lovely team at their Chevy Chase store invited a handful of bloggers to try on pieces, sip champagne and learn even more about the great American jeweler (did you know the company was started in NYC in the 1830s with just $1,000?).
