I’m absolutely going to enjoy every last minute of summer, but I’m also already excited about fall. Put those two things together and these days I’m all about sunshine, warm colors, soft accessories, cozy sweaters, farmers’ markets, all things plaid, flowers, wine, being by the water, and rooftop dinner parties. Perfect, right?

So far this summer, I’ve been living in breezy midi skirts, knotted tees, and easy-to-wear dresses. Denim shorts and one piece swimsuits are also necessary. Now, if only I could be back on a beach…

Cooler temps can’t come soon enough! Need some fall outfit inspiration? Plaid seems to be everywhere and you can never go wrong with stripes or a cozy scarf! I’ve been adding cozy items to my apartment (see more on Instagram here), picking up pumpkins (I can’t help it!), and thinking about sweaters and other fall outfits. These days, I’m loving sweaters with fun details like the one below, all the dark floral prints, and everything burgundy. I just love fall!

Winter is Coming!

Thanksgiving is over already (I can’t believe it!), everyone is putting up the holiday decorations, and it’s definitely getting colder outside. While I didn’t do any post-Thanksgiving shopping this year (but have you seen the J.Crew sale?!), there are a few things on my (winter is coming) wish list!

It’s my favorite time of year (I don’t even mind the back-to-school part so much). Leopard, camel, layers, burgundy… lovely.

I can’t believe it’s already June! But I couldn’t be more excited. I love summer, and this one, in particular, was/is needed. So to celebrate, here are a few of my favorite summer things right now!

Yellow and white were popular colors, as were blue and silver, but my favorite dresses were definitely those on Greer Grammer, Emma Stone (Lanvin), Anna Feris, and Anna Kendrick (Monique Lhuillier). What about you? Any best dressed picks?

Though it may seem crazy to talk about warmer weather just yet, it definitely makes sense that any purchases these next few months still work into spring. Luckily, I found a number of great pieces from Sears that do just this!

aIMG_1503

First, fun and cozy sweaters that you can layer will always be a wise decision. I’m personally loving this long cardigan now and wear it under jackets to go out, or by itself to stay warm at home. Plus, it will work great as a kind of jacket when the weather starts to improve! This is another great sweater, which has built-in layering already taken care of for you! And this sweater would work well over a collared shirt for now, but is light enough to stick around for warmer weather.

Transitional Dressing with Sears

In my third and final post with Sears (compensation provided!), I’m talking about winter-to-spring dressing! The leaves are (slowly) changing, pumpkins are everywhere, my birthday is fast-approaching (yay!), and it’s finally jacket season. During the work week, there is nothing I’d rather wear than slim black pants, fun heels, and a great jacket. It’s definitely my “go-to,” and transitions perfectly from work to class. Whether I’m in a meeting or reciting a case, I absolutely need to feel comfortable/confident.

Paris Part 2

As promised, I’m sharing a few more photos from Paris today! Because I was traveling alone (and take horrible selfies), I reached out to a photographer I had seen on a few other blogs (see this beauty and this one), and whose work I LOVED, to see if we could get together for a portrait session while I was in the city. Everyone – if you are in Paris, you must meet up with Katie of Katie Mitchell Photography! She made me feel completely comfortable and we had the best time wandering around Paris! I couldn’t be happier about how the photos turned out. So… who wants to move to Paris with me?

Fall Layers

Believe me, I know it’s still pretty warm out there, but I can’t stop thinking about layers already! Fall is just so perfect… scarves, jackets, pumpkins, boots, coffee, leather… For more of my fall favorites, see my Pinterest board here, along with this old (but still applicable) post here!

It’s such a fun alternative to a printed dress, and usually incorporates the crop top trend to boot! Plus, I have to imagine you can get more use out of them by mixing them up with other pieces. Obviously this isn’t something I could really wear during the workweek (but maaaaybe), but it’s growing on me for a fun vacation, concert, or beach-y look. What do you think? Would you try this look?

But now that I’m settled and have access to my clothes again (joys of moving), I’m hoping to step it up a bit this summer. I’m loving the look of pencil skirts and blazers in lighter colors, crisp white shirts, and billowy or wide legged pants – of course, it’s easy to say that now. I’m sure my game plan will change come 90 degree July/August!

Cobblestone Runway

I meant to share this earlier, but am absolutely in love with the inaugural Cobblestone Runway lookbook featuring some of my favorite local businesses, including Zoe Boutique, Bishop Boutique, The Dog Park and Sugar House Day Spa and Salon. The new publication highlights Old Town Alexandria, including pet friendly hotels and restaurants such as Morrison House Hotel and Jackson 20. Plus, there are some extraordinary ladies featured! Keep reading for more, and see the full lookbook here!

Thinking Spring

For at least one day this weekend, it really felt like spring! So for me, that meant fresh flowers, yellow heels, and perfectly worn-in jeans. I’m loving these lighter, distressed jeans for a change. And if you are in need of some new spring pieces, everything in the new Gap Lived In Collection is amazing (and right up my alley): cozy, classic pieces that are made to feel like you’ve owned them forever. I definitely picked up a few more pieces for myself, and am just hoping it stays nice so I can enjoy them!
