Thanksgiving is over already (I can’t believe it!), everyone is putting up the holiday decorations, and it’s definitely getting colder outside. Since my last post, I finished finals (and the spring semester!), took the absolute best trip to Napa and San Francisco (see photos on Instagram!), and started summer class (bummer). I can’t believe it’s already June! But I couldn’t be more excited. I love summer, and this one, in particular, was/is needed. So to celebrate, here are a few of my favorite summer things right now!

I’ve been thinking a lot about stripes lately (weird, I know) and while stripes are never not in style (in my opinion – evidence here), there is definitely a trend towards bolder, bigger stripes for spring (see runway shows from Oscar de la Renta, Michael Kors or Marc Jacobs). Thankfully, this is a trend you can start wearing now! And you’ll get plenty of use out of your striped look, because really, it’s kind of a classic.

I don’t know about you, but I’m still recovering from the inauguration weekend. Between attending an unofficial ball (in Herve Leger thanks to Rent the Runway), catching a concert by The Dig and U.S. Royalty, and watching the parade in the cold, I’m worn out! And consequently, all I want to wear or think about are cozy casual pieces like the ones below. Sometimes, a simple sweater and jeans just works, right?

Leather Moto Jackets

These days I’m completely obsessed with the look of leather (or faux leather) moto jackets. I love how easy and chic they are no matter what you are wearing – and since I avoid my winter wool coat until the last possible second, it is the perfect way to bundle up without going overly bulky. Though black may be the most versatile option, there are so many colors to choose from. I’ll be picking up a tan version ASAP!

Last week I was on the hunt for some printed shorts to go with a new neon shirt. I now want printed shorts to go with everything. I love how you can wear them with just a simple tee or dress them up with a jacket. And with pops of color, the prints really stand out. I’m pretty sure these J.Crew shorts will be mine before too long, though I’m dreaming about these Milly ones. Seriously. Dreaming. I mean, they’re chevron!

To switch it up, swap the blouse for a graphic tee. Just add bright accessories and great heels, and you are totally put together for any summer day! All I need now is the perfect shorter skirt!
