In my third and final post with Sears (compensation provided!), I’m talking about winter-to-spring dressing! Though it may seem crazy to talk about warmer weather just yet, it definitely makes sense that any purchases these next few months still work into spring. Luckily, I found a number of great pieces from Sears that do just this!

First, fun and cozy sweaters that you can layer will always be a wise decision. I’m personally loving this long cardigan now and wear it under jackets to go out, or by itself to stay warm at home. Plus, it will work great as a kind of jacket when the weather starts to improve! This is another great sweater, which has built-in layering already taken care of for you! And this sweater would work well over a collared shirt for now, but is light enough to stick around for warmer weather.

So earlier this month I shared a typical workweek outfit and some tips on being more confident in the office (Marshalls surveyed more than 1,000 women and found that 71 percent wish they were more confident). It might be a bit colder than I’d like right now, but I can’t wait for the Thanksgiving weekend and getting dressed up for holiday parties! Of course, I still have to make it through finals before I can really relax, so I won’t have as much time to think about outfits or presents or holiday parties as I’d like. So my days lately are pretty jam packed with work and class… but luckily, I love both – and I love fall. The leaves are (slowly) changing, pumpkins are everywhere, my birthday is fast-approaching (yay!), and it’s finally jacket season. During the work week, there is nothing I’d rather wear than slim black pants, fun heels, and a great jacket. It’s definitely my “go-to,” and transitions perfectly from work to class. Whether I’m in a meeting or reciting a case, I absolutely need to feel comfortable/confident.

Paris Part 2

As promised, I’m sharing a few more photos from Paris today! Because I was traveling alone (and take horrible selfies), I reached out to a photographer I had seen on a few other blogs (see this beauty and this one), and whose work I LOVED, to see if we could get together for a portrait session while I was in the city. Everyone – if you are in Paris, you must meet up with Katie of Katie Mitchell Photography! She made me feel completely comfortable and we had the best time wandering around Paris! I couldn’t be happier about how the photos turned out. So… who wants to move to Paris with me?

Thinking Spring

For at least one day this weekend, it really felt like spring! So for me, that meant fresh flowers, yellow heels, and perfectly worn-in jeans. I’m loving these lighter, distressed jeans for a change. And if you are in need of some new spring pieces, everything in the new Gap Lived In Collection is amazing (and right up my alley): cozy, classic pieces that are made to feel like you’ve owned them forever. I definitely picked up a few more pieces for myself, and am just hoping it stays nice so I can enjoy them!

Red Carpet Trends at T.J.Maxx and Marshalls

If you read this post, you know that my favorite trends from the Oscars were all the black and whites/neutrals (of course), which is also one of my favorite looks for spring (see here for proof). I especially loved the fitted and flared dress on Charlize, so with the red carpet trends and that dress in mind, I went to the T.J. Maxx in Georgetown on a search for something black and flouncy.

Just in time for the holidays, Banana Republic partnered with L’Wren Scott for an amazing limited-edition capsule collection – seriously, it’s glamorous and luxurious and perfect for this time of year! And for those of you who love sequins (I know you’re out there!), it’s perfect for any time, really. In addition to the sparkly pieces, I also love the dresses, jacquard jackets and brocade skinny jeans. And even after the holidays, so many of these pieces would add some extra fun to casual looks! I definitely plan on wearing this cardigan over and over and over… it’s just too great!

This last T.J.Maxx post was perfectly timed, given the chilly weather that came out of nowhere! Layering is such an easy way to stay warm (especially during transitional weather months) and still look put together. And this look features so many of my favorite T.J.Maxx finds: the designer bag (featured previously here, here, and here), a great leather jacket (worn here too), these fabulous heels (previously here) and my absolute new favorite… this gorgeous designer wine-colored dress! Plus, no look is complete without the right beauty products. Thankfully, T.J.Maxx has those too.

For my third post with T.J.Maxx (only one more after this!), we were asked to try out some print mixing, which is a fave look of mine (see my epic mixed prints post here). I was originally thinking about mixing plaid with leopard (see this example!) but when I spotted this quality camo shirt, I figured it was as good a time as any to try out the trend! Luckily, I also found a striped shirt and amazing designer heels to pair with it (oh, and the designer bag I found at T.J.Maxx a few weeks ago is back, of course!).

I’m completely in love with this designer dress and its perfect leather paneling. When I threw it on and it fit perfectly (plus the quality is amazing), I knew it had to be mine. Luckily, with the T.J.Maxx price, it was a no brainer! Also, it’s a perfect demonstration of how well navy and black can work together.

Leather and Baubles

It’s really started to cool down a bit, and that means it’s time for some of my favorite things – hot coffee, pumpkin everything, boots and scarves, and leather jackets! This jacket I snatched up from ASOS on sale is amazing (so much so that I wore it at fashion week despite it being a bit warm). Also, I’m loving my new statement necklace from BaubleBar. They have some seriously incredible new pieces (shop their statement necklaces here). Perfect for pairing with all things fall!

If you follow me on instagram, you might already have figured out that I’m partnering again with T.J.Maxx – this time to bring you some fun fall trends! I went shopping over the weekend and may or may not have gone a little crazy. But it finally feels like fall and I couldn’t be happier for sweater weather!

Speaking of sweater weather – a cozy sweater is my absolute essential fall piece, and when I found this amazing designer sweater at T.J.Maxx at a really great price, I knew I had to have it. I also was ridiculously excited about the designer bag I snatched up at a fraction of its usual price. I can’t wait to wear this bag all fall and winter long! And finally, because this sweater is such an essential piece (and T.J.Maxx challenged me to show three different ways to wear an item), I not only paired it with this fun leather skirt (which would be great for a night out), but also with black slacks (also from T.J.Maxx) for work and jeans and flats for the weekend. These looks are absolutely my favorite fall outfits!

Issa London + Banana Republic

In case you hadn’t heard (but I’m betting you have), Issa London – the Kate Middleton engagement dress designer – collaborated with Banana Republic for a collection of dresses, top and accessories. And it’s really, really wonderful! I especially love this blue wrap dress, which is similar to the famous engagement dress – but more importantly, is super comfortable, flattering, and perfect for going from desk to dinner. I have a feeling I’ll be wearing this dress a LOT! Don’t miss the other pieces here – they are all great!

It was a really, really hot weekend in DC. Thankfully, I spent Saturday at the beach and had a really wonderful 4th of July. I wore this silky white top to the pool and while running errands, and it was perfect for the heat! I kept it pretty simple on the 4th too, just wearing this red dress. But it worked great!

Hugh & Crye Part 2

You’ve already seen some photos of Stephen in his Hugh & Crye shirt here, but I just had to share a few more. A couple weeks ago, we went shopping and Stephen stepped a bit out of his comfort zone by deciding on this purple checked shirt from Hugh & Crye. Summer Hair + Scarf

A few weeks back, I went ahead and cut my hair. I’d been dreaming of shorter, darker hair for months (see examples on my pinterest board here – love this one and this one) and I knew that Nadine with PR at Partners was the only one I trusted to make it happen! In addition to the new length, I’m obsessed with the color and the lack of layers for the first time maybe ever. I love it. If you are looking for a new salon, I highly recommend PR at Partners! Vineyard Vines Dress

When this Vineyard Vines dress arrived, I couldn’t wait to try it on. While I don’t do a ton a preppy looks, the dress was just so classic and a truly perfect fit – I immediately fell in love. It’s perfect with a pop of pink and heels, but would work equally as well with flats and a tote bag! Such a great summer dress!
