I think we can all agree that it was a particularly brutal winter – and that it’s finally looking like spring! While I still have to get through finals (just two more weeks!) before I can really start enjoying it, I’ve been making a serious effort to get my skin back in shape for spring and summer.

For me, this means exfoliating (I use my Clarisonic every night), moisturizing (Dr. Dennis Gross for face, Amlactin for body), toning and treating acne (loving all Mario Badescu products lately), and using serums to boost brightness and get rid of any dark spots that accumulated over the past few months (cold weather + crazy stress = skin disaster). Perricone MD’s Vitamin C Ester serum has been an absolute necessity… the ultra-brightening properties together with anti-agers have seriously brought my skin back to life. I use it every morning (and would also recommend their Blue Plasma for evenings), then try to keep it simple with tinted moisturizer, a bit of blush, winged eyeliner, natural nails, and a great lip balm.

Happy Friday! I hope you are surviving the cold weather! It’s freezing in DC! I plan on curling up in cozy clothes and really just taking it easy this weekend. Despite Monday’s day off and the snow day on Tuesday, it still feels like it was an exhausting week – I guess maybe it’s the getting back into the swing of things with school! But it was a great week nonetheless (relaxing with friends, catching a Georgetown basketball game, playing in the snow…) and I’m so ready for the weekend. Home For The Holidays

So, three things: 1.) I’m DONE with my first semester of law school! It hasn’t been easy to work full time, go to class in the evenings, and somehow have time for anything else – but I’ve truly, truly enjoyed it so far. My classmates are amazing and it’s fun to be in a classroom again (seriously!). And now that I’ve got one semester done, I’m hoping it will only get easier. Fingers crossed, anyway. Also, 2.) I’m headed home to Wisconsin tomorrow! SO excited to be spending the holidays with my family and oldest friends. I desperately need this. 3.) A while back, the lovely Nikki tagged me in a “chain mail” post. Keep reading to find out what she asked, and my answers! And have a wonderful holiday season everyone!

October Playlist

I can’t believe October is almost over. Time is seriously flying! And it’s definitely time for an October playlist – this one is complete with songs like “October,” “Among the Leaves,” “Is There A Ghost,” “A Skeleton of Something More,” and “Bones.” You get the idea, right? I love polka dots for spring. There is just something so fun about polka dotted pieces. Plus, I love how perfect the patterns lend themselves to some print mixing (click here for my mixed prints tutorial)! My fave combo is dots and leopard (reminder: leopard is a neutral) but for the daring, dots and floral can work. Or, of course, you can keep things simple and pair your dotted pieces with denim (either a chambray top or jean shorts). How cute are these (love the anorak and dress!)?

It’s hard to write about florals for spring without thinking “groundbreaking!” but is there really anything more perfect for spring than floral? Whether it’s a bold print, delicate floral or rosette details, it’s such a great way to add a bit of sweetness to any spring look. I love the idea of a floral a-line skirt like this one, or even floral pumps! Or maybe it’s a floral scarf or bag – or a bold floral shirt paired with bright pants!

Meet Designer Erin Fetherston

And if you’re in the DC area, I mean literally! Designer Erin Fetherston will be at the Tysons Galleria Neiman Marcus for a personal appearance 10AM-4PM tomorrow. Her line may be new to Neiman Marcus, but she’s been designing since 2004 and already has a strong following, including friends Zooey Deschanel, Kirsten Dunst and Anne Hathaway. Fetherston is known for her flirty, delicate dresses and fun separates, and for spring, I especially love the butterfly prints and little white dresses. SO cute!
