As it gets warmer, it gets harder and harder to dress for work. But now that I’m settled and have access to my clothes again (joys of moving), I’m hoping to step it up a bit this summer. I’m loving the look of pencil skirts and blazers in lighter colors, crisp white shirts, and billowy or wide legged pants – of course, it’s easy to say that now. I’m sure my game plan will change come 90 degree July/August!

Pleats and Coffee

I love pleated maxi skirts for fall. Especially with some leather, booties and a much-needed coffee! Put it all together, and this is what I wore Tuesday night to the Bishop Boutique party (don’t miss all the photos here!). It was easy and comfortable! I’m planning on wearing this skirt all fall and winter long!

Pretty In Pleats

Having just recently declared my love for pleated pants, I found the feature on “Soft Pleats” in the April 2011 issue of Marie Claire to be particularily well-timed. But rather than focus on pants, Marie Claire looked to pleated skirts, saying the “delicate fanlike folds graduate from schoolgirl skirts to clever grown-up lengths.” It appears the ladylike “trend,” along with these ultra-femme skirts, isn’t going away anytime soon (then again, isn’t dressing like a lady always in style?). According to the New York Times, “so much modesty has never gone so far.”

Kelly Wearstler is best known for her interior designs (she’s the designer behind Bergdorf’s eatery, BG, and bauble boxes for sale in the home-furnishings department) but I recently stumbled upon her debut clothing collection via b for bonnie. How adorable are the full skirts, mixed prints and pops of color? According to Style.com, the collections will be nicely priced and will be available on Bergdorf’s fifth floor with other contemporary labels.
