Since the post I was planning to put up became problematic (because of photoshop, not this guy, though he did keep me up later than I’d like!), I got some last minute inspiration from this Refinery29 article on cute winter outfits. It not only features some crazy talented DC bloggers, but some great ideas for belting winter layers. I’ve said it before, but I could belt anything - dresses, shirts, slacks, blazers, sweaters and even coats.

Don’t get me wrong, I wear plenty of skirts and dresses, but my favorite outfits usually include pants. I feel better about this knowing it’s a favorite of Garance Doré too:

Looking For Leather

I’ve used this quote before, but it’s so perfect for this post I needed to revisit it:

It was the photo of Emmanuelle Alt that put me over the edge – I wanted leather pants immediately. Thankfully, Forever 21 has pairs for under $20 so I don’t have to feel guilty about the purchase (ShopBop has some great options if you are willing to invest). And while I’m still convincing myself I have the legs to pull it off, I’m looking to these women for inspiration on how to put together the perfect leather look.

I swear, I could belt anything. Dresses, shirts, slacks, blazers. Skinny belts are on constant rotation in my wardrobe. I like to buy mine extra long and fold or knot under the extra leather. I’ve even avoided threading the belt through completely and just tied the ends together. I blame the J.Crew catalog. And Madewell. And photos like these.
