I don’t know about you, but I’m still recovering from the inauguration weekend. Between attending an unofficial ball (in Herve Leger thanks to Rent the Runway), catching a concert by The Dig and U.S. Royalty, and watching the parade in the cold, I’m worn out! And consequently, all I want to wear or think about are cozy casual pieces like the ones below. Sometimes, a simple sweater and jeans just works, right?

Knits and Boots

I know it’s supposed to get up to 80 degrees in DC today, but over the weekend, it was knits and boots weather! I was especially excited to wear my new Massimo Dutti sweater – the Spanish label and sister company to Zara just launched online and opened its first US store in NYC this month. According to WWD, Dutti “targets a slightly older customer with classic, elegant and sophisticated styles… less overtly trendy than Zara.” Rumor has it, they’ll be opening a location in Georgetown next month!

Fall Flare & Prints

The temperature may be changing from cool to warmer to cool again, but it’s definitely still fall and I’m definitely dreaming of flared jeans and fun prints these days. Cozy sweaters, hats and comfy scarves go perfectly together with perfect sunglasses, gold nails and cute booties. I love it all!

A new job is the perfect occasion to go through your work wardrobe and step it up a bit, don’t you think? I know after three years at the same job, I’ve gotten pretty comfortable with my attire and it may be time to reevaluate! First place to start, tear apart my closet. Second? Winter Layers

This morning felt a little chilly, but over the weekend it was warm and sunny and amazing! And a few days this week, it will be warm, and then really cold again. Still, I seem to be wearing pretty much the same uniform these days – skinny pants tucked into boots with a slouchy sweater. My favorite outfit! Wear alone for those warmer days, and add a big scarf, gloves and a warm coat for the colder ones. I’m still trying my best to add more color, and next up, will try to work more dresses/skirts into my rotation – I promise!

Even though female fashion is my main interest, my male readers/friends keep asking for a post for them – and I have to say, a well-dressed man does make me smile (right, ladies?). And, oh, the man that shops here will be a good looking man. Kelly Wearstler is best known for her interior designs (she’s the designer behind Bergdorf’s eatery, BG, and bauble boxes for sale in the home-furnishings department) but I recently stumbled upon her debut clothing collection via b for bonnie. How adorable are the full skirts, mixed prints and pops of color? According to Style.com, the collections will be nicely priced and will be available on Bergdorf’s fifth floor with other contemporary labels. DC got its first real snow last night, and even though it is nothing compared to last year or even what I’m used to from growing up in Wisconsin, it’s something. So instead of another spring inspired post, I’m just going with the snow and gray and curling up in a cozy sweater. I’ll be back to dreaming of spring tomorrow, I’m sure.

Lately, I can’t seem to get chunky cardigans and sweaters off my mind – especially the heavy cardigan coats a la Kate Bosworth below (also inspired by this “coatigan” and Sarah Jessica Parker’s outfit here). SO perfect for this cold, cold weather we have in DC now!
