Hitched Upon a Star

Last month I was invited to a brunch celebrating the “Upon a Star” contest launch with Hitched Salon and wedding gown designer, Jorge Manuel. Hitched is an amazing bridal store (it looked absolutely beautiful for the brunch) and it was such a pleasure to learn more about the contest, which will award one lucky bride a custom made Eternal Flame gown, a stay at the Fairmont Hotel and a celebratory party in her honor with Jorge Manuel at Hitched on Friday, May 18th. Packing For A Bachelorette Weekend

On Friday, I’m headed to Austin, Texas with some great girls to celebrate my best friend Marta’s bachelorette! I can’t wait to get away for the weekend, but I’ve never been to Texas before so I’m having trouble deciding what to pack! Thankfully, Shopbop is having a sale and I was totally inspired by their selections. I can’t say much about what we are planning to do while we are there (she’s a reader), but I think I have an idea of what to bring!

A Maryland Bridal Shower

As I mentioned, last weekend I was busy with one of my best friends for her bridal shower and bachelorette party. It was an absolutely lovely celebration and the maid of honor did an amazing job with all the details! I can’t take any credit for the food or decorations, but I wanted to share some photos I took!

Well the Royal Wedding is officially over – I, for one, loved waking up and watching it all. As Joe Zee so perfectly put it, “A world spectacle, a fairytale romance, good hats and David Beckham all before breakfast.” Yes indeed.

Last Saturday at 5:30 in the morning, my roommate and I left our house for the airport and began our wedding adventure weekend. And it really was a bit of an adventure. We arrived in Milwaukee at 8AM, and with no hotel to go to, camped out in the airport. We walked through a museum, sipped coffee at Starbucks, and got ready for the wedding in the airport bathroom. Adventure. After our dresses were on, our hair curled, and our makeup redone, we got in a cab and headed for the church. The wedding was beautiful, and of course, I was fighting back tears as Barb walked down the aisle.

After the wedding, we boarded a shuttle that took us to the hotel, where we dropped off our luggage. We didn’t actually have a room, so we had to kill some more time by shopping and wandering around the Milwaukee riverfront. Eventually we just decided to relax in the hotel lobby, before getting ready in another random restroom. Like I said – adventure. Then we grabbed our luggage, and it was off to the reception site for dinner and dancing!

After the reception, my mom was nice enough to pick us up so we could spend the night in Madison with my family. Adventures and all, it was a wonderful weekend and I was so happy to celebrate with Barbara and Devlin on their wedding day!

Rehearsal Dinner

As far as what to wear, being a bridesmaid is pretty easy: you wear what the bride tells you. I’ve been struggling, however, with what to wear to the rehearsal dinners. Since I get to show off my own style this night only, I want to wear something that is fun but still classy and bride-approved. For the wedding in NY, I’m thinking about this Diane von Furstenburg dress:
